Brady is sill one of the most recognizable faces in the league. Many owners will draft him high this year – probably too high, but he should still be a good commodity to have in your lineup. While the days of 50 touchdown passes are more than likely behind him, he is still a very lethal passer who has several excellent receivers to throw to. He will be 2-years removed from the knee surgery and will be looking to prove a point.

Overall View

This year is going to be somewhat of a defining year for Brady. While that may seem like a silly statement, consider this: He was once the most feared passer in the league, but failed to win the year he broke all the records, he is also coming off a somewhat disappointing season – by Brady standards, and will need to show that any lingering effects of the knee surgery are behind him. More importantly, he is trying to work out a new contract extension with the Patriots, something that he needs in order to finish his career in New England.

Concerns

I would say the contract negotiation is a concern, but that really won’t affect where he is until next year, although it may have a bit of an impact on the way he plays, knowing in the back of his mind that the Patriots may be looking to go in a different direction. The main issue will still be his knee. While he had a pretty productive year last year, he was well off the Brady standards, and there were several games where he was not very good. He will need to have a bounce-back year to allow for other teams to consider him for a long contract. those teams include the Patriots. Don’t look for a 40-50-touchdown pass season, many of the weapons from those years are gone, and teams know how to stop it a little better now.

Upside

He is still Tom Brady. Consider this: he threw 28 touchdown passes and threw for his 2nd best passing yard season ever, all coming off a major knee surgery. While those numbers are definitely down from Brady standards – especially the touchdown passes, they are still among the best numbers in the league for quarterbacks. Brady will be looking to prove a point, so he will play with a chip on his shoulder, which is good considering the reason. Even if the Pats don’t sign him again, a good season will put him on the radar of most of the teams in the league.

Dynasty Value

This is a tough one for Brady. You should be good-to-go this year if you draft him, but in the long run of a Dynasty set-up I am not so sure. A lot will depend on this year. A lot will also depend on where he signs next year, especially if it is not with the Patriots. I would not pick him in the first two rounds of the draft, although I will say this. He will be a steal in the draft this year, and if things do turn out good, he will be a lock to start for you in Dynasty for 3-4 years.
