Although many NFL enthusiasts don’t want to admit it – probably because of his style of play, Tony Romo is in fact really good. So good in fact that he is a top 5 quarterback when it comes to fantasy stats. His touchdown/interception ratio is among the best in the league. He also finally put the “can’t win a playoff game” issue to bed last year so this year he is gunning for a title.

Overall View

As stated before, some fantasy owners will shy away from Romo because of his style of play. Does Romo have head lapses? Sure, but what quarterback doesn’t. He is one of the most fun players to watch in the league. He is always improvising and makes the highlight reel weekly. He has thrown more touchdowns every year, and continues to throw fewer interceptions. Right now he is a top-five fantasy quarterback in my book.

Concerns

Not too many to speak of. The main thing to touch on here is his fumbling problem. He fumbled relentlessly his first couple of years, but he even fixed that last year. He does lose track of the ball sometimes and some of his improvisations are silly – to say the least, but otherwise look for Romo to have a huge year.

Upside

In case you haven’t noticed, Romo plays for the team owned by Jerry Jones. That being said, Jones has brought in yet another lethal receiver (Dez Bryant) for Romo to throw to. With Miles Austin breaking out last year, along with Jason Witten and the hopes that Roy Williams will return to form, Romo should have no trouble finding people to throw to. The fact that the Cowboys have one of the best running back tandems in all of football, and you have what is going to be a very formidable offense. Romo should shine, and may even post career highs in touchdown passes. To solidify the case that Romo is a top tier quarterback, remember this; he is one of only 4 full-time quarterbacks to have a single digit interception total last year.

Dynasty Value

Romo has excellent Dynasty potential. He is still pretty young and has a great offense built around him for what looks like years to come. If he can sure up his fumbling issue even more, then he will become one of the most prolific passers in the game. I like him as much as Aaron Rogers in a Dynasty format - and we all know that I think Rogers is the Number 1 quarterback to take in a Dynasty format. Feel free to take Romo as early as the first-round; he should be your starting quarterback for the next 5-7 years. The Cowboys are built to be successful for a long time, and he is the main guy in Dallas.
